What Obama’s Victory Means to the Asset Protection World.

By Rob Lambert - Email Editor

Dear Valued Reader,

I was worried Tuesday night as I sat down to watch the election results. I was worried that all of the politically correct talk of middle aged white men and women was just that, politically correct talk and nothing more. I wondered if many of the seemingly broad-minded supporters of President elect Obama were closet bigots. After all, when I was a kid well over 50 years ago, the average white person wouldn’t think of a black person as having the capacity or support to become president.

What a change. I am proud of America. We have come a long way in 50 years. Just maybe Obama can undo some of the hatred much of the rest of the world directs at the USA. He might just really change our course. Who knows? I am keeping my fingers crossed. Even though I will be paying higher taxes with Obama at the helm, maybe my maid and her family can finally actually go to the doctor. Lots of little things like that might actually happen.

Well, you signed up for an Asset Protection newsletter and not some political commentary.

So, what will Obama’s ascendency do to the Asset Protection world?

On this side, the news is ALL BAD.

Remember the American Trial Lawyers Association (the guys I call professional burglars, always searching for an unprotected person with money)…. Well they have changed their name to the American Association for Justice. These guys are organized and well funded.

The bottom line is that the ATLA and other advocates for unlimited plaintiff recoveries have poured nearly $135 million into the pocket of Democratic candidates, with over $28 million dollars going to Obama’s campaign.

What is going to happen? Simple. More litigation. Larger recoveries. New more liberal laws promoting the agenda of the tort lawyers. In short, when you have spent well over a hundred million dollars helping the people who control your income stream (the tort system) get elected the laws are likely to change in your favor.

Hold on and watch out. It is going to be quite a ride.

I am proud of both America and President elect Obama.

Have a healthy and protected week.
